I tumbled some glass to take the sharp edges off for a crafts project - worked great but I never moved it past the 60/90 stage. I need to free up a tumbler and finish it.
Needless to say, I never finished my crafts project! LOL

I use a pair of angle wire cutters to break the large pieces of glass into smaller chunks. I use to just break it with a hammer, but found I lost a lot of glass, so now I CARFULLY, break it with cutters. Harry

You're very welcome, and also Kim..., you are also very welcome. When I tumble glass I start it in a 60 graded or a 36 graded SC grit. It gives it a really nice rough grind (?) for about 12 hours, ( be sure to check your tumblers VERY often, because they build up gas fast), then I tumble in 120/220 for about 12 hours. To get the feel of silk on the glass but a dull shine use 1200 for about 4 days. If you want to run longer on any of these tumbles you can. You will have to experiment to get the results that YOU like. You can tumble glass through the complete cycle as rocks an you will be amazed at the results. Polish is the key to the end results... as above..... EXPERIMENT. Harry

Hey Harry- Thanks for the great link. My husband's been after me to try to make some beach glass.
He recently brought home some beautifully colored vases from some clearance sale as a hint. Perhaps I'd better give it a try since he's the one that got me the tumbler...
