We went down yesterday and had a very good time. Though it was a bit chilly (dipped down to around 20 early Sunday.. hope Condor didn't freeze in his tent!), the sun was shining and it was quite pleasant by the afternoon (high 40's or so). We hit the 'Main Event' for a bit and checked out T-Rox.. lots of yummy looking rough lol. Here's a couple pix: A mountain of mook! 8 bucks a lb? Time for a trip to Burro Creek! After a bit we went over to Tyson Wells and finished the day seeing maybe a fraction of what was out there. I snapped off one pic then my batts died on me Anywho, I picked up a few neat slabs and some smaller rough for my WF. This is Morrisonite.. reaaly neat! Some lilypad Some Blue Biggs. Not much 'blue', but some beautiful future cabs for sure! Puddingstone? Not sure what these are, the green one was something out of Cali. Any ideas? And a few pieces to cut on the saw, some crazy lace, raspberry, plume and carnelian, some kind of lime green opalite and something my g/f picked out (top left.. rhyolite maybe?) I know this was a lot of pics for one post.. hope I didn't crash anyone lol. Thanks for looking

Beefjello, The green slab in the 2nd to the last picture is plasma agate, use caution when you work with that stuff, don't let it get hot at all........Avoid breathing in any of the dust, the chunk I had slabbed on my saw had a high content of cinnabar in it. In the vugs on the slabs little balls of mercury had beaded up and filled the voids, not sure if all plasma agate has cinnabar in it but just be careful.

Could the lime green opalite you are talking about, possibly be chrysophrase (<sp?) or lemon magnesite?

Nice pics, Beef. All those piles in the first four shots will get mosta RTH droolin'. Hard to believe Burro Creek goin' for $8/lb in Arizona! You picked up some real nice stuff there. That rhyolite the g/f picked out looks like wonderstone.

Ooh a mountain of mook. I like that! The puddingstone actually looks like a hunk of Rocky Butte Jasper. $8.00 a pound for Burro Creek whew!....mel

Oh I wish I could go to someplace like that. Definitely a rock hounds haven, one of those places you could get in alot of trouble with your credit card. Tami

Thanks for the comments all! Yikes! I hope I didn't lick that one too much Thanks for the haeds up Jamie! As for the opalite rock.. I got it free for buying a slab from one guy. He told me where it was from but I forget.. I do remember him saying it was an opalite though. The picture of it sucks.. I'll try and get a better one. Sandsman and Sabre, thanks for the I.D. on the Rocky Butte Jasper!
