One of the books I am read is real big on Ceramic Pellets. Seems to me that the rocks would smash Ceramic into little pieces.
The book says Ceramic allows the load to roll easier and increases tumbling action. Also, Ceramic would be easier to reclaim & reuse.
Plastic Pellets are cheap and add little weight. They are a BIG pain to reclaim. (well at least for me)
Anybody have any feedback? Which would be better? Anybody ever use Ceramic Pellets?

I have found the perfect way to gather up the plastic pellets. I have a 3 gal plastic pail that my strainer fits right down inside of. When I empty a barrel, I dump everything into a strainer and wash them off really good. Then I take the strainer over to this other bucket set it in and swish the rocks around a little to let all the plastic pellets float up. Then, using my little fish net, just scoop them out, your done in a few seconds. The net is small enough you can dump it right into a baggy. I have a tiny piece of the corner of the baggy nipped off to drain, then just hang it up over the sink. Works really slick and the pellets are ready to dump into the next load. Isn't the main idea of using plastic pellets to "cushion" the rocks from banging against each other and protect them from chipping? I don't think the ceramic pellets would offer that same protection would they? [glow=red,2,300] ~ Cher ~[/glow] pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/signs/RockOn.gif [/img]

I small fish net. That is a great idea! I have been using a/the kitchen strainer, which does not work that well.

I just bought some ceramic pellets 1/4 balls they arrived today and I put them in with a grapefruit sized rock that started out almost round and I am tumbling it by itself I can hear the rock rolling around and will wait and see what happens I like what I hear so far. will give a week or so to see if it is doing anything, prepolish right now
