Here is my little workspace. The Lortone has been faithfully chugging for over a year now (minus winter break). The Gyroc is going on week 3 - notice the flat lap on top. I'm doing some thunderegg halves in there. Should have my first finished batch ever done in 3 weeks. Just started 600 today, and then a week each in prepolish and polish. Stay tuned.

That was my thought too, way too neat. Go make it dirty so it looks like you've been doing something besides collecting rocks. ;D

It was too cold to do anything but collect rocks all winter. But I'll be rolling (and vibrating) until Oct/Nov now. If I manage to mess up the table a bit, I'll take another picture for you all.

Nice having bowls for each stage. I have to scrub mine all the time.
So how long have th et-eggs been in. Does the lid prevent the slurry from drying out? What grit sequence are you running in the v-lap?

What grit sequence are you running in the v-lap? Extra bowls for the gy-roc are real cheap - one of the reasons I bought it. So I only do 60/90 in the Lortone. All other stages in the gy-roc. I've only done 2 t-eggs. About a week each in 220. I'm planning to follow the vibe cycle. So now that my rocks are are in 600, so are the t-eggs. Figure that will eliminate the contamination risk.

I was just re-reading. I think a week in the final stages is to long. One day in a vibe is about a week in a rotary. You would not normally do 7 weeks of fine and 7 more weeks of polish. Maybe jsut 36 hour of fine and 48 hours of polish.

Nice corner, Toad. I wish I had such a place. Doesn't the bike bother you? Don't you hit it from time to time? Or that's what is the head protection for? You seem to be a very organized person. I like working in a clean and organized place too, but I don't manage all the time. I'm also at my first batch, polish stage. Hope next week I'll post some pictures. Adrian

Is a week just a bit of overkill, or is it really too long? Not that I don't believe you Daniel, but this is my first time. What do the rest of you vibe people think? Am I hurting the rocks?

4 days in each stage in plenty of time. Jonje has done complete batches in less than 8 days, start to finish and they come out looking like glass. He uses TXP polish (I think he calls it TXP) and only runs them in it for one day!!

(freakin county keeps hitting it with the plow!!) Maybe I'll go hid in my shop.

Todd - I don't think you are hurting the rock. Not unless you notice some fractures. I use ceramic pellets and between them and the mud, the rocks seemed cushioned. I just think the grit is pretty broken down by the end of the week. NOt doing much of anything. ALso, if you are having to check each day or two and add a bit of water (typical for vibes) you might be wasting a bit of your time.
As for polish, I would always go for more than a day. I have seen things go from nice polish to amazing poish by letting them go a day or two past where I thought they might be done.
