It's been a few weeks since I've got to go out rock houndin'. Even though it was pretty 'warm' yesterday (94 degrees when we arrived), Christa and I headed up to our spot on the river and had a good time. Hiking down the creek to the river. Luckily there's and abundance of shade here Things were blooming all over See the lizard? Great camo Finally down to the river Just after we hit the river the clouds built up and the winds began to blow (almost seemed monsoon-ish). It cooled way down. It was sooo nice! Really looked like we were gonna get dumped on tho We had a nice little picnic, collected some great rocks and had a wonderful day down there. Here's what we brought home We came across this boulder on our way back. Even though our packs were full I just had to lug this puppy home. What a hike out! I tell ya, I'm a hurtin' unit today lol A close up This big chunk of agate has some beautiful red running through it This piece is really nice too The back side of it Some more of our finds Thanks for looking!

Very cool Brian, is this the Verde River again? Some nice find for sure, good choice bringing that large one back. I bet there are some awesome slabs in that puppy. Ya, that was monsoonic yesterday wasnt it. It blew up from the South east, thats has happened a couple times ive noted in the last few years. we dusted out big time for about 20minutes yesterday. Got some shots i will post later of it. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful country! I love those little cactus blooms. About 25 or 30 years ago my wife and I brought some home from West Texas. I put them in the garage and after unpacking and getting ready for work the next day, I forgot about them. About a month later I found them in a can in the garage and they were blooming!
Now for the rocks. I want to say this as tactfully as possible. You have WAY too many rocks. Now as a buddy I feel like it's my responsibility to come out there and rid you of a major part of them. That way maybe your life can get back to normal. ;D
Great haul Brian! Man, that's some real beauties!

Great haul. That boulder does look too good to pass up. Those bumpy looking one looks cool. THose are some fantastic colors. I do see the lizard, but it took a little while. Gotta say, it must not feel good to accidently step on one of those cacti. Steve

looks like a great day beef! Lots of cool material....what's that in the 4th pic down (starting at the rock pics)...looks like a Geode?? I like that bubbly stuff too. I think you'll get more than just a few slabs outta that big one. Steve

NICE!
It was Monsoon-esque up here too. Hopefully a preview of things to come. (an early Monsoon that is)

Shain, yep that's the Verde. And boy did that wind ever kick up! My folks were out at Roosevelt Saturday and they saw 4 boats capsize from the swells!
Curt, now really.. is there such a thing as having too many rocks? lol
Thanks a bunch everyone! ;D
