Maybe aquamarine or a copper mineral? Thanks a bunch!

From what I saw on the discovery channel I would say that you have a chunk of Aquamarine. Tami

Could the first one be a nodule of imperial jasper? -Don

And your description of that beautiful first rock sounds like an entree being served up on the Food Channel or in one of those five star Restaurants. As for the second pic...I don't think that's aquamarine. Sometime this weekend I'll pull out my specimens and take some pix. Your rock looks more like a quartz than a beryl. Course, I am NOT an expert on these rocks, so I hope someone who is will post a good ID. Lady B

Sometimes it helps to figure ID by knowing where they came from...do you remember where these were picked up at? To me, the second one appears to be a calcite. i72.photobucket.com/albums/i186/181lizard/DSC00219.jpgIt reminds me of a rougher piece of this. (but that's just a guess!)

I think the second one's calcite, too. Drop a little vinegar or muriatic acid on it. If it fizzes a bunch, it's probably Mexican green calcite.
