Totally out of this world!! I received the "Violet Nebula" on Friday and I sat in my truck at the mail box just staring at it. LOL Truly awesome work. The stone is amazing in person. It has a three dimensional aspect that gives the stone greater depth. And when you hold it up to the light, WOW!!!! I am sure the winner of this current contest will be truly satisfied. ;D Great job John, in more ways than one. LoL You have started a fire in me and I want a saw and grinder and........ LOL
Thanks

That is how it works. I remember when sands was asking what type of grinder and saw he should use. We all gotta start somewhere. The work you recieved, which impressed me with the initiative, follow through and general quality, shows what happens when a path is undertaken, and followed through. That is the process I have followed, I watched others, and tried to encourage in others. My wife included. Sandsman is an example to me. He is an inspiration to me. I really like his straight edges. That takes a trick, and his finish is great.

Oh, yeah, a person came by the shop yesterday. He is a really decent person and I do not know anything about him. He saw me cutting the emerald. He said," I will be right back!" He was gone about two hours, showed up and dropped a bag of emeralds on my bench. He said, here you go! Sands, do you want to play with an emerald? If so, drop me a line on messages and I will send it to you. It is a nice one. Your touch might do it justice. On the one I was faceting, I was almost done with 320, and an inclusion was getting worn down. At the last moment it went pop! and a chunk came out of the girdle. Not that large, just frustrating. Back to 180, regrinding the entire bottom of the stone. Probably lose about two carats all together. Could have been worse. The end cuts are ok, it is in the corner of the girdle. About 1mm X .001 deep. Large enough to bring concern, but not a ruin on the cut. Another day and I should have the bottom roughed in.

Hi all, I so want to respond to all these wonderful threads, good news abounds! I am just so tired. On week 3 without a day off, 10 hour days. This has been off and on for a year. Just hired in a a fantastic assistant mngr., I hope. "Violet Nebvula" must be a thing to behold! Sands is just that good, and generous. Congrats!

Go ahead, ruin it. I will send one to ruin, and one to do perfectly. Then you will have two. Just think, twins. I hope they are not naughty.

I'm guessing Sands is hoping that the twins ARE naughty.

WOW Doc ... someone just dumped a bag of emeralds in your lap? That is pretty cool.
Brett, WTG Got any special plans for it? Has your wife got it set into a necklace yet? *smile*
