I got a question...i've found some Brazillian Blue agate for $1.25 per lb....now I'm going to be buying like 25lbs of this. This is before shipping...so i'm guestimate 25-28 dollars for shipping. so after shipping i'm gonna pay like $2.37 a lb. Since I'm still new to the game...ya think this is a decent price?
Thanks, Noah

It sounds like a great deal. However, if you plan on tumbling all that in a 3 lb barrel, it won't be till a full year from now that all of it gets tumbled. I would sugest buying a variety of different rock. There are so many kinds to choose from. Unless you decide on a larger tumbler, in which case 25 lb's will go rather quickly. At least by tumbling standards. One more thing about Brazilian agate. It is a very, VERY hard rock and my take up to four or five weeks in coarse grit (step 1 ) before moving on tho the next grit.

Yeah I've got the Lortone dual 6lber ...its supposed to be delivered sometime tomorrow, plus the small 3lber I have now. I think I'll be able to do a decent amount...and well if the addiction hits hard I can always buy another tumbler ;D. But yeah...I'm also going to be going through some of the stone prior with my dremel to help shape the larger ones into a bit of shape so It can spend less time in 80 grit. Soon as I find perhaps a used rotary sander for a decent price I'll probably use that. Anywho...thanks for the info...I'm lso looking into buying 10lbs of aventurine. ..5green and 5 peach...and 5lbs of apache tears...oh yeah and a buddy of mine is sending me a 1/4 pound of citrine...I think this will hold me over for a bit... -Noah- (And yes I do work lol..heheh..I just have a computer next to my workbench so I take breaks and check the puter often)

Greetings All, Sounds to me like you are getting a nice price Noah, even with shipping. If you'd like to trade some of this for the flame agate and/or mahagony obsidian I currently have I'd be interested. That way we can each have more different rocks I'll send you an email. William C

If anyone wants some gem grade sheen Obsidian, let me know. I'll give you a good deal on it. I have more of it than I need.
I also have a large amount of very nice brecciated Jasper too.
Let me know.

Greetings All, Hey James, I'm interested in trading for some of the brecciated jasper, I'll drop you an email this weekend. Right now I've got some flame agate, mahagony obsidian, and a ~10 lb piece of blue aventurine that I hadn't busted up yet but am willing to. I really like the idea of trading for rough, it just seems more friendly than simply buying/selling. Although I am not adverse to either, especially selling William C
