Frantom was a very high quality manufacturer of equipment that was purchased by Diamond Pacific. I have a friend who uses a combinaiton unit wiht 8" wheels and a 10" saw. It is probably 50 years old and still runs like a champ. I use his 10" saw with water as a coolant to saw up alunite and turquoise too big for my 6". It turns slower than my trim saw does, but that is the rule wiht most rock saws-the bigger the blade, the slower it turns. As for instruction get one of the basic guides to cutting cabochons. You start at coarse and go through progressively finer abrasives-just like tumbling. Good luck on your combo machine.
