This stuff occurs in one isolated area near St. Johns, Arizona. From what I understand the area is on a private ranch. This was a popular material with the Anasazi Indians back in the day, who used it to make their arrowheads and tools.

Those are really nice examples! Look to be more solid than a lot I've seen. I seem to remember that back when the Petrified wood hunting area by the park was known as Greer's Milky Ranch, the flower agate area was also a fee dig but the material was pretty fractured due to someone blasting the deposit. I've got a couple of hunks around somewhere but not nearly as nice as the one you've pictured in the close up shot....Mel

The St. Johns agate area has been closed & gated off by the power plant there & is no longer open for collecting. Patti

Hello all,
I'm newer to Rockhounding but all my life I've been picking up different specimen. If anyone is interested in getting some st johns flower agate let me know. I have a few places you can get it. They claimed it was only found at the mine here but you can honestly find it all over, if you know where to look.

That's a really nice offer...and if I were down in that area, I'd be taking you up on that!!

I would love to go up that way after it starts warming back up a little, might be fun. The Anderson Mine agate from this side of the state near Alamo Lake is similar in a lot of ways.
