A friend sent this fossil shell cab to me. I absolutely adore it and decided to wrap it for myself (a first). I love base metals so I wrapped it in copper..........I dont like a lot of fluff so its just a simple border wrap with a couple of prongs to hold the cab in place. My bails still need work. I struggle with those still. Being a very "organic" wrap, I do not want to put this one on a chain. I think I will make an adjustable hemp or leather cord to hang it on. I cannot wait for it to tarnish........this one will not be polished.....I think the patina will match the cab nicely. This one is 21g ds sq & 22g ds hr copper. The back and side for Tweet ;D Thanks for looking, Shannon

Excellent choice of wrap style for that stone. Very neat and tidy wraps. Excellent job!

Very nice - thumbs up for showing the back! Yeah - How long before copper tarnishes? I heard if you wear it lots, it could stay shiny?

Great work, Shannon! I like the style, but is the rock steady with only two prongs?

Adrian,
It sure is.........the stone is in there pretty snug. With the addition of the two prongs, it doesnt move at all. If you were doing a wrap like this and were worried about it, you could always do 4 prongs.

Yes, Shannon, I know that 3 or 4 prongs would make the rock steady for sure. But that's what I like at your wrap. I like simple wraps that give the impression they are not enough but in fact they are.

Dang!!!!! I love that!!!! Yummmmmy cab gal. If you want it to patina faster...boil and egg ...smush it a tad and put it in a zip loc baggie with your piece, and close it up...keep an eye on it too make sure it don't over do. ;D

Thanks Nancy..........I havent heard of that method before. Last night before I went to bed I dabbed some strong saltwater onto the copper with a Q-tip. This morning it was just perfect! The copper is now dull and does not have that new, bright shiny look (which I didnt want). Shannon

You're very welcome!
Sorry, I didn't know ya wanted to just dull it...the egg method will actually antique it...makes silver look like "Bali silver". Yep...salt will dull it, but if you add lemon, it will brighten it up again. ;D

Really beautiful. Aging the copper makes it look like a real antique now. Great job! Tammy

What a unique cab! The wrap compliments it beautifully. Love it. Raquel
