Hi all, Heres a quickie, laying on the couch photo of two BO wraps Ive just finished for xmas gifts. I am not happy with these AT ALL. I have done others that have turned out so much better but I am really short on time. The left one isnt bad, the right one has many things wrong with it, including crooked binding wires on the bail, GRRRRR! Im usually pretty happy with my cabs and wraps so Im not sure how to deal with sending gifts that Im not happy with. Honestly, how bad are they? Shannon

They aren't bad at all!!! As a fellow perfectionist, I completely understand picking apart your own work. The reality is that non-perfectionists and people who have never seen a wrap before in their lives will never notice! I'd be proud to wear either.

I'm not a wire wrapper so I don't know what flaws may be there. I think they're both nice and I love the top on the left one. To my inexperienced eye, the one on the right has a tendency to take away from the BO - maybe too heavy?
I'd love to be able to turn out EITHER!!!!!!

bouldergal, You are correct, the one on the right has a much taller bail than what I wanted. I have found that when you are inexperienced, the wire has a mind of its own and the design you have in your head doesnt always happen LOL. At this point, I am just happy if they are good enough to give as gifts. This sounds bad but obviously, the best one will go to my wealthy mother in law who has lots of nice jewelry and the other will go to my aunt that lives in the middle of nowhere in Montana. Not that where they live means anything....just that Montana Auntie wont be nearly as picky. Shannon

I wish I was half as good as you are!!!! ;D Maybe one bail is a little higher but that is still some excellent work.

Shannon, I think they're both wonderful. I'm sure you're aunt and mil will be very happy with them.

Thanks everyone! I just couldnt stand it and slightly reworked the one on the right. The wrapped part above the little loops is now gone and the bail has been pulled down and is slightly smaller. It looks a little more balanced now.

Shannon, Do you wear glasses??? If so, you may want to put them on, and if not...you may want to get your eyes examined. I think both those wraps are really gorgeous. Your being way to hard on yourself. If I could only ever do half that good...I'd be happy! I think whoever gets them, will be very happy! Steve

I think they're actually quite nice. Yup, couple of boo boos, but almost everyone has them. Let's look at the good stuff: the cab is gorgeous; I like the smoothness of your curves - no kinks. You manage to keep the square wire - square for most of the work and that's hard to do, the wraps on the prongs are even and the prongs appear to be the same size and not kinked or crooked. I'd suggest filing the end of the topmost swirl on the right hand pendant or turn it more inward if it is already filed. Remember, we take these closeup pics of our work which is a great learning tool for us (GOD KNOWS, I learn a LOT every time I look at a photo of my work!) It's extremely rare that anyone else will look at them with even a 1/20th of the scrutiny you get here. But, that's what "here" is for! This is how we learn. :-) Thanks for being brave enough to share. They're both beautiful and your aunts are lucky to have them. If your aunt doesn't want it - I'll take it!! :-) Good work. I'll bet the re-worked one looks great.

Thank you Shelbeeray! Its good that we like to encourage each other but some times a person needs some scrutiny and critiquing in order to get better at something. Thank you so much for pointing out the good AND the boo boos. I plan on doing a little filing and these will also be tumbled to make them shiny and deburr them. I keep a vibe tumbler bowl specifically for tumbling wraps and it has plastic pellets and stainless steel shot in it. It does a wonderful job.

Heck it's BO!, you could wrap it in licorice if you wanted it would still be stunning?
I really like them a lot - one tiny suggestion: if you can find a pair of flush cutters the ends of your wires would end in a flat cut - (they snag less and look so pretty) they finish the wire in a |◄ cut it looks more finished
Kim has done many bails that are way high and they look great - i think that we are our worst critics - and sometimes you need to take a step back and look at it differently to see it properly.
i think you did a fantastic job

Hmmmm, licorice. You might be onto something tweet, it sure would be easier on the fingers than wire. I have flush cutters but have been so busy fussing with the bails that I didnt even notice. Thanks for the tip. Shannon

Heck I'd be thrilled to get them, hint hint. LOL To my untrained eye they both look great. I like the design of the right one better but that is just my taste.

You are too much of a perfectionist, I think they turned out amazingly. I can't see a single flaw. Tami

Shannon I know how you feel. That gotta get all this stuff wrapped feeling. As soon as I get off of here I got more to do. We as wire wrappers will always see the slight imperfections. The people getting them never do. They look great so don't sweat it.
