Just wondering if anyone knows of a place that sells Diamand Lapidary wheels at perhaps a lower price than I'm paying right now...i'm paying roughly 200 - 225 a wheel right now. I just need a new set and was hoping to maybe grab them up cheaper...otherwise I'll just get myself some of the cheapo grinding wheels till then. Oh and for the record my hands hurt! I grinded, and polished almost 10 lbs of aventurine today it all shaped and conformed very very nicely gonna make cheapo pendants out of it and then sell em at the next show which is only like 2 weeks away. Woot!
Anyway my hands are all grit filled and my fingertips are smooth and my fingeprints have worn off...sooo I'm ready to sleep...night all..

Noah, I use Kingsleynorth.com for all my lapidary. I get competent service, great products, and I am satisfied. Your hands hurt? Don't you dop your stones? I dop even the big ones. I get more control.

Noah, use the hard diamond wheels. I prefer the 1 1/2 width variety. I also have a rubber expandable drum that I use for the finer grits. These wheels, and sanding belts I run wet. I have found the hard wheels last much longer than the flexible surface wheels. Using dops, even for the larger stones, gives me much more control over the grind. when I am over stressing the wheel, the dop wax softens and the stone shifts. If I catch it then, even with water drip, I can save the grind and it is much more gentle on the surface. Diamonds cut much better with higher speeds, and less pressure. Corundum wheels are for hogging the cut. They are semi sacrificial.
