I went ahead and ordered some wire and tried to wrap another cab, its a little better than the boat anchor but not by much! Kim, I ordered the exact opposite of what you had told me, I couldn't find the paper I had written everything down on when we had our conversation so I ordered a little more and I plan on trying this again. Anyway, this is one of Beefjello's cabs that I got from the rock cache box before it got stuck at Tammy's. I know its all hacked up but I don't have a tumbler that I can tumble something like this in, our tire tumbler is contaminated with a coarse grit so I have to try and clean our small barrel so I have something to finish this off in. How do you guys get the flat stuff so perfect? I tried to squeeze mine together and its still not tight. From 5 feet away it looks pretty good but these close up pics really suck! LOL Thanks for looking!

Oh and nothing like running the wire right through the prettiest part of the cab. DOH!

Jamie, it looks great! You have really started to get the hang of this wrapping business. The bindings are tough at first, but you'll get it. I don't use the tools to bend the bindings, only to crimp them after they are bent. Try holding the wire just at the bend and use your fingers to bend it. Then turn the piece over and using your fingers, bend it over again. Then use your tools to tighten the bind by slightly sqeezing the wires. You can place the binds evenly next to each other that way. Keep practicing, you got it!!

That's a very interesting wrap Jamie, I'm wondering, how secure is the stone. I think you did really well on this one, I like it. The bindings are a bit hard to get wrapped nice and tight, the only way I can do mine is to tape them. I have that blue painters tape and I tape them in several places, leaving only a small open spot where I want the binding. It's the only way I've found I can get them nice and secure without being pulled too tight that the wires start to overlap or clump up instead of staying flat.

I love that! you really can,t mess up anything that has to do with BO - my only suggestion would be to get the front drop curls aligned with the wire, so it doesn,t stick out (it will catch less on stuff
beautiful job - no boat anchor on that one

Jamie, I remember the other ones. This one looks great! I like what you were doing on the top there - very nice. This one shows a lot of promise.

Boat anchor? What are you talking about about? It looks awesome especially with the cool top part. I've never seen anything like that. Nice job on that. It looks like a fine wrap to me. Those bindings are hard to get together at first. I prefer to use pliars with tape on them and crimp over each loop of wire at a slight angle so they are snug up against eachother. It works good but you can't move the bindings around after that at all. Great job, can't wait to see more! Steve

DAng Jamie! Look at you go gal!!!! I am impressed for sure. Bindings...there is indeed a secret and I have never heard one person state it...so here it is: When binding, I will pull the wire with my fingers to cross over a tad (not next to) the wires on the side that I will be locking the wire down to...when I put the pliers to the wire, I want to hear a slight "click"... ya want the wire to click into place next to the wire beside it. I can't describe it...but I can show it...dang. Now that I have my real job, I haven't had time to do any tuts...phooey...but I will try and get a tut for this. It is really easy, but you do have to know just how to do it. I've always been amazed that noone has ever mentioned this. Anywho, that is how I do it...so take it as you will. *grin*

It looks great, the only thing I would suggest is that you get a pair of flush wire cutters you will get a little flatter cut end. I use flush wire cutters to cut my jump rings for my chainmail jewelry. These are the ones I use they are Xuron Flush Cutters.

I was so taken with Nancy's binding hint I forgot to leave my message to you. I love your style Jamie! YOur cabs are unique to you, in my mind, and now your wraps are distinctive too. Glad you gave wrapping another try! Tony

Jamie, you get an "A+" for effort! I think it looks pretty good though - it has lots of character, like you. Patti
