...to those that wait ;D ;D ;D! my recipe prize winnings came today from karenfh...not that i ever doubted her for a moment. especially after seeing that pile of flat raters she posted the other day! an interesting box of goodies for sure: my very own and highly prized RTH shirt! PLUS a genuine bowl made by our own Tonyterner!!! some great rocks: but also some stuff you wouldn't expect, such as a recipe book, a candle, a local fridge magnet (i LOVE fridge magnets!!!): but what i found almost as interesting was a copy of the "Official County Newspaper", "the Imperial Republican"!!! it was extremely interesting to compare to our little local paper, and while New York and Nebraska are both states in the union, the differences struck me as mildly amusing. from the advertisements of "farm fresh chickens, dressed and bagged" to the numerous "bull for sale" and cattle auction notices to the photos of little old women publishing cookbooks to the men wearing cowboy hats as a rule rather than the exception. lots of pictures of high schoolers doing rodeo type stuff (more cows) and in the sports section more cow/bull oriented photos alongside the weekend activities of the Lady Longhorns. so, thank you VERY much, Karen! Tony's bowl will take pride of place in my dining room (full of polished rocks, of course). don't ya just love these folks? KD

So, KD, are you the happy owner of a Imperial Republican newspaper, huh? Not many people in this world are able to brag about such thing, but I am one of them, too. Karen's packs really rock, she puts inside a lot of other interesting and funy stuff besides rocks. WTG for your recipe, it was great, you deserve the prize. Karen, congratz again for the wonderful contest! It was not only one of the most original and funny ones, but the longest one for sure. Adrian PS. Tony does a great job on his wood turnings. The word "fine" is not in vane, in fact it's an understatement.

Great things come to those who wait. Sorry you had to wait!
KD, I am so glad you enjoyed it. That little bomb scare thing on the front page rocked our world for a day or two! Turned out to be nothing. Unfortunately, it was a slow sports week...so you got rodeo. We do, actually, have more, LOL. The Lady Longhorns sent 6 gals to state track this week. Hope you enjoyed the community news, LOL! That is what sells papers here. That and the courthouse news...
And the used cookbook. Everyone gets a "tried & true" cookbook.
But the REAL PRIZE was, of course, Tony's bowl.
Thanks for posting! What fun!

What an awesome prize package! WTG Karen...and enjoy the goodies KD! I love that bowl too. I guess we all have Tony's business card now...so we know where to order some cool hand-made bowls. And I'm sure glad you gave me an update on the Lady Longhorns. I've been wondering how well they were doing :^)) Steve
