Well I took 158 photos and got 2 that are not too bad. These still don't look as good as live and in person. Good thing for digital cameras or I would be broke with film. Photography is not my thing. These are some local and some I found in Montana.

only 158 pics? It's the weeding through them to find the best one. Do you down load first and then weed thru or do you try to weed thru for the better ones then down load. Either way it's a pain in the neck but worth it when you get it just right.
You did a great job capturing the shine.

While I cannot comment on the other 156, those 2 pics are quite good! They show off a very nice shine. Good tumble and 2 good photos!

When I took photography in college one my professors told me that great photographers normally get one good for every 36 shots taken. I take a lot of photographs of rocks for my web site and most of them get tossed out due to quality issues. What I am getting to is, "Don't Give Up!", your two pictures are very nice and I am sure that many of us here would like to see more.

These pics are not "not too bad" but very good, as it is the shine you put on those rocks!

Killer shine on those puppies! I go through 30+ photos to get one I will accept and it is still not a good replica of the subject. I suppose it's like anything, to be good it's LOT'S of patience and LOT'S of practice.

I see some pet wood in there, shine is real nice too. I don't think anyone had a problem with the pics, we love to look at them all! So don't beam up Scotty, keep the nice work coming! Nona

The easiest way to get good rock photos is to do it outside, in the sunlight, and keep them soaking wet. Almost all of my pics are at least acceptable this way, with about half being (what I consider) very good.

Hi
I agree with Adrian this is a good photo you got the reflection proving that they are polished properly and not "wet"
Agrate photo
I have struggled a long time getting photos of rocks and find that outside is the best place for a photo as long as you have your back to the sun (or you get the reflection from the rocks shutting down the camera)
You can always make a light box for use during winter out of a plastic dish some one on RTH had this design a great cheap way round the light problem.
Have a good day
