i'll bet you guys thought i'd broken my hand or something, eh?
nah, just my part time job turned into a 7 day a week job for a while (too long a while), and today i FINALLY got back to some cabbing. ;D felt like i was going through withdrawal, wasn't pretty either!
so here is what i finished up today, first an antelope jasper set, two 14mm x 10mm bookmatched stones for earrings and an 18mm x 13mm pendant:
next a small (14mm x 10mm) banded translucent agate:
this is a 25mm x 18mm 'bot that i got from Bearcreek a long time ago and finally got the courage up to cab it:
another pair of 14mm x 10mm horse canyon jasper stones for earrings:
now, here is a cab from some material that karenfh sent me for a contest win, i do not remember what she said it was, but i studied this particular slab for a long time before i settled on the cut. it was a thick slab and this is a very high dome:
this is my first piece of noreena jasper that i have worked and couldn't get a decent shine on it to save my life:
this next agate was my first attempt (that failed miserably, i might add) at an "Adrian groove wrap". i totally screwed up the groove and just ground it down to a double dome, side view:
one side:
the other side:
so, not a total failure.
here is my first for working with some owyhee, there appears to be a crack or fault line, but it's not:
this next one is a piece of dyed agate, but i cut it close to the edge of the slab and to me it kinda looks like petrified peacock feather:
and last, a picture jasper, 18mm x 13mm:
they all need a bit of clean up at the edges and a polish to the backs (except for the domed one.)
thanks for looking!! sorry about all those dust specs, i didn't notice them until i went to post the photos...hopefully i'll get back to the more important things in life again, like rocks!
