I'm thinking this is the oldest thread I have ever seen bumped here! Makes ya wonder where some of them (members) went. I would have 100,000 posts if a charter member. Imagine all the experiments to keep you on the edge of your chair. should I charge admission ?

I've had this happen a couple times and used "Permatex" Ultra Black Gasket Maker, I think I found in Walmart auto parts dept., if not any auto parts store. Just dab it on the clean and dry area to be repaired, don't need alot. Follow curing time on tube. Works great and still rolling after 2 yrs.

I am trying the temporary fix of using tire patches. Placed one on each side of the gasket over the hole. It has been back running for about 15 hours now and isnt leaking yet. This weekend I will go ahead and order 2 new gaskets for both of the barrels. Glad someone mentioned the rock shed, they are the cheapest I have seen. Almost everywhere else wants from $6 to $10 each. Thanks for the help!!

I think Kingsley North has them at a reasonable price too.

I always put a patch of heavy black tape under the lid to cover the bolt location. This stops ant wear in the center of the rubber gasket. This has worked for me for past 7 years. My 3 lortone tumblers 6-12--12 are running every day.

I have two 12lb and one 40lb tumblers running all the time to polish rocks for our wheels of fortune at our show. The centers of the lids wear out routinely because the rocks in the center of the pile spin at the center and wear it down. I buy 1/8" sheet rubber from our local hardware store and cut new lid gaskets. I usually have to replace one at about 1 year intervals. Bob
