I was at Amber's over the weekend and while she organized her rocks I gave her new machine a bit of a workout. Time went to fast it was 1 am before we knew it. Here's what I managed to bang out. She just got some moonstone from ebay and was disappointed in the material, well that is until I cabbed this one. It almost has a cat's eye effect. After the first I had to do a few more and plan on making a pendant using several of these. The flash in each one is different. Since I was at her place I got to use up all of her rocks. lol Here is one of hickoryite. Crazy lace agate. This is her favorite material and I'll groove wrap this one for her. Holly blue agate that she got from Misguidedone. This one is pretty big for what I've seen of that material. Its about 1 1/2" tall. Now that she got rid of the refurbished wheels and has new ones on the machine works really nice. These were all taken to 14,000 on her wheels and then polished with tin oxide on an end plate. I hadn't used TO before but it worked really well on most of these stones. Seems to work on a wider variety of stuff than the cerium I've been using. I'm going to do more experimenting with both.

The lace is my fav!! I think that was a slab from Maryann! The Holley Blue is so alluring, but so highly fractured and pity it is really a pain to work!!! But I love it!!! I like this one even with the cracks and pits!!!Those little moonstones are so pretty in person!! I can't wait to see how you wrap them!!! Amber

"Now that she got rid of the refurbished wheels and has new ones on the machine works really nice" I looked, but I didn't see you had a problem with them, what did I miss? Dr Joe .

Wow what a great group of cabs Tony. I love them all but the group pic of the moonstones are wonderful. You really brought out the moon glow.

Dr. Joe, her machine came with Nova wheels that were refurbished by the 90 something year old man who made her machine. The wheels were, to be kind, crap. They had some spots that were close to an 1/8" higher than others so they were seriously out of round and caused a lot of vibration while cabbing. Not to mention they weren't soft like Nova wheels either as the epoxy he used was so thick and hard. The new wheels are so much smoother and cut so much better.

Great group, Tony! Those moonstones really stand out, to me. That's a gorgeous piece of crazy lace, too.

:oWOW! You really have some pretty cabs here! I can't even begin to pick a favorite! Your crazy lace really turned out well. Mine seems to all undercut, even in the tumbling...Drives me crazy! Great job Tony! Fran

Yep, there's nothin' like a new set of wheels.
Sorry to hear about the old (?) ones.
Look on the bright side, if you want to refurbish a set your ready! ;D
And atleast now you have something to do when you go to her house (besides cleaning the basement).
Dr Joe

Beautiful cabs! I can see why the Crazy Lace is Amber's favorite, it's mine too.
