We were down in the basement today cleaning up when my daughter picked up a piece of imperial jasper and asked if she could grind it. I'm not one to push my kid into trying anything but when she asks to try something the answer is always yes. She sat there an hour grinding on this rock. She had a little help from daddy on the final wheels but she did most of the work. She is very proud of her work. Autumn at the grinder. Her cab, she took the photo herself. A self-portrait. Hopefully her enthusiam will get her back to the machine again soon.

She is happy and she has a good reason, she put a blinding shine on that cab! Now get it groove wrapped for her, this will surely help her enjoy the cabbing hobby even more. Adrian

Autumn's smiles have just brightened my day! There is no question of how proud, and happy she is. That first cab will always be treasured. I can see that it shall be hard for 'Daddy' to say no, when shes picks out, and asks for your best slabs. Woody

So that is how it all started for her. There no turning back, now. That is great. I must show it to my girls. Zoran

Thank you for sharing such a great story and that big wonderful smile. I bet she was walking in thin air after she finished her first rock. Can not wait until my granddaughter gets older so I can teach her the joys of lapidary

Tony, love the story. Autumn, you did a great job and took really great pics! You look cool in your safety glasses too! You should wear your first stone, your friends will think it's cool. If not, make another right away until you're happy with one. But, don't be too much of a perfectionist! It's good enough to wear now... honest. Good job! Jo
