Made a quick trip to the river and found another Mosasaur vert even larger than the last one I found. Handful of bone fragments. One is a small very river worn vert and another may possibly be a Mosasaur flipper digit Couple of sharks teeth Baculite It was a nice day and I really enjoyed myself Curt

Nice finds, sure wish Iowa was a little closer to Texas than it is I would love to be able to do Texas on weekends, for no other reason than to help you carry home all the loot

Man that's awesome to be able and go out and find that kind of stuff! That sharks tooth on the left is really long.

HOLY MOLY what a haul!!!!!!!!!!! Dino bones, can't get enough........ Question-how come the fossils and dino bones in the southern areas like Carolina's and Florida have a darker color to them?

Well not all of them are black as you can see in my "handful of fragments" pic. But a lot of them are. This is because they are phosphatized. The phosphate mines in the Carolina's have a ton of amazing fossils, but access is extremely limited.

the sharks teeth and fossils we find in the mines here n central Fl are clean looking even the sharks teeth, the gums are white and the tooth can be yeloow or grey, the darker fossils we find in the rivers, they get their patina from the waters, different rivers different stains, the ones by my house are tanic from all the oak leaves in the river.
