Ugly rock, oh my gosh, what a surprise inside. That is some really neat stuff. I can't help you ID it, but if you got it from Tony it might be called "Holy Crap" rock. :-) Barb

I know it's from the Owyhee's. Tony and I found some comparable stuff yesterday, and commented on how it looked like his Holy Crap rock.

If you send Tony a pm he'd be able to explain his terminology for a "holy crap" rock and maybe give you some info on this one. Barb

That is really a pretty lacy pattern with a bit of spectacular dendrites. I can see why it is a holy crap rock! Fran

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!
I have a pile I call the Holy Crap pile, I am not sure where it came from, it is from an old estate that was sorted by a third party, who also did not know where it came from, and it was sorted more by color or similarities on the outside than by type of rock. Alot of this looks like lava rock, but when you cut into it, you just can't help but exclaim HOLY CRAP!! The inside usually holds a great surprise. I have had a few duds from the pile, but not very many. The chances are pretty good that it came from the Owyhees somewhere, but I have no idea what it is technically speaking. That is my story and I am stickin to it.

I hope Tony throws in a piece of that in the box I've ordered from him. Stunning patterns.
