Finally got to try out the saw I bought from Catmandewe a while back. Getting oil in S. Florida was an ordeal - ended up ordering it on line. So...... drum roll...... my first "slab bucket!" Dry Wet Close up of agatized OJ Kaleidoscope Jasper Mystery rock from Tony Ugly OJ Thanks for looking! Susan

Mary Ann, Dale is hard to get in touch with because of taking advantage of limited time for prospecting. He will definitely get back with you! Just keep trying and he'll take good care of you! I bought some kaleidoscope from him on eBay and just started cutting it. Please PM me....okay? Susan

Whoops.....forgot to answer your question Brent. The saw is 16" and is really easy to work with. If you're looking for any used equipment, contact Tony (Catmandewe) as he is absolutely the most honest and wonderful person to deal with. Susan

I would think that is so much easier than trying to stand and hold the rock steady and roll it as you cut. Yep, it is a tile saw that I cut with. Looks like you have some nice slabs to start with! Fran

Fran, You have absolutely no clue how much easier it is. I was astounded by how simple and accurate using a large saw is, but it is definitely slow. I started out Friday night after getting the oil and cut two slabs. I cut the rest on and off again over the weekend. There were a few others I cut from some rocks I purchased from an RTHer that were supposed to be geodes or more like thundereggs. They were really big but nothing worth keeping inside. So, what you see was what I turned out. I was disappointed in a huge piece of OJ (the really light slab) but all in all it was a lot of fun!!!!!

I order all of my oil online as well. I looked for it locally (two days of phone calls). I'd rather pay the $90 for a five gallon bucket online

I have a home built 16". I love it. It is quick and easy. As for oil, I don't even try to find saw oil, and mineral oil is almost $20/gallon. I use what ever I have handy, and it works great.
