I have never attended a show before. Next month in Austin they are having an International Gem and Jewelry show, expecting 8,000 people, and the next weekend after they are having the Austin Gem and Mineral Society show, around 3,000 people. My question is this: I would like to attend, but could only make one show. I would like your input on which type of show would be the best to get some good rough at the best price. I really want to go to see the displays, but Iknow I couldnt walk out without buying something. Appreciate any input and experiences, good and bad. Thanks,
snuffy

Gem and Jewelry show will be almost all finished (and expensive) stuff. The Austin Gem and Mineral Society show will be your best bet to find rough.

Having never been to either, I'd say the Gem and Mineral show would have more chance of rough than the jewelry one.

Yup, go to the Gem and Mineral show. We don't have a lot of good rock shows in Tx but the larger ones will be your best bet for price. The jewelry shows will be just that.

I have been to one of those International Gem and Jewelry Shows where I live. Consists of a group of dealers traveling around the country selling nothing but a lot of overpriced jewelry.
You'll find the Gem and Mineral shows much more to your liking and very interesting.
