Well, it's our own fault. If we didn't spend beyond our means, we wouldn't be in this fix. We cry and boo hoo about the credit card companies and here comes Congresss to our rescue. They end up making it worse than before.
A perfect example of the government "saving" us, when all that needs to be done is don't do business with crooks. Get rid of the cards.......Problem solved. Life can be so easy and we make it so complicated.

I agree, Curt.
But my point was - how stupid is Congress for not understanding that the credit card companies would make changes before the law went into effect. Of course it could just be another part of their game - pretend to do something to help the poor and down-trodden (and secure votes) all the time knowing that big business will have plenty of time to adjust the business model and still stick it to the people this legislation was supposed to help. And then pretend to be outraged by companies taking advantage of the loophole big enough to drive an oil tanker through. And who said only republicans were in the pocket of big business?
So I come to two conclusions: either Congress is immensely stupid and naive thinking that the legislation would actually curb the 'excesses' of the credit card companies. Or they think Americans are too stupid to realize what they're up to (pretending to help the little guy, when business goes on as usual).

Well, Congress is made up of 453 people, mostly lawyers and Doctors. That makes me think the stupid and naive theory is out.

Okay, definitely leaves out stupid. But smart people can be naive.
So basically Congress is just out to decive us...
Well I guess we knew that already. Just makes me mad when I see them show-boating about all they're doing to help us, when really they have no intention of helping us at all. Maybe I should just start laughing instead...
