Cool stuff, we get it from the local pet store. They sell it for aquariums. Those are some pretty pieces.

Snuffy one of my rock club members made an intarsia piece out of two red pieces of slag glass, like yours, it had two colors in one piece and tiger eye. In fact yours looks almost the same color. He made it into a heart with kinda a triangle pattern on top part and straight lines on bottom part and heart shape overall. Hard to imagine, I know, with such a description and I wish I had a picture to show you. He made it for his wife and didnt post it on his website. As soon as I get back down in Arkansas I am gonna to buy some slag glass too.

I had a piece like the buttercream and dark color one in the first pic. I sliced it up and made a few preforms and tumbled it with other slag. Turned out great! Love the variety that you have! Fran

That glass is really cool. I can't find any locally with those colors though. Or maybe I'm too slow, because once in a while I see a really pretty piece too small to even get a cab out of lol.

moondragon, when I went to the Crater of Diamonds,in Murfreesboro, there was a rock shop there that had tables full of slag glass chunks, probably 3-5 lbs apiece. That was before became interested in it.Didnt get a single piece, dang it. I may have to take me an Arkansas tour this year.

YOu let me know when you decide to go and maybe I can go during that time too. I found a guy who is a geologist down there close to Mount Ida that has slats of wavellite to sell and maybe we can mosey over and visit him too. He said most of the wavellite places are closed now. I think it looks really good in cabs. He said he will sell a little or a lot. He has been collecting the stone for years. I am about 6 1/2 hours away so give me a little notice:) LOL I have never collected in MOunt Ida only at Ron Coleman's in Jessieville.

Snuffy: When we went out to UT every store had piles of pretty slag glass, I lvoe it, it looked so pretty all piled up sparkling in the sun. It makes such great cabs, and the one store had an outdoor fountain made with it, so cool! You have some really pretty pieces there.
