California was hit hard last week with storms. One morning last week, the president of our club was called by the rangers in the park across the street from the house we rent for our museum and workshop. They said a tree fell on our building. One of our members went out there and found that, though branches damaged some of the roofing tiles and ripped the power box off the wall, we were very lucky. As Maxwell Smart many times said: Missed it by ( ) that much...

This photo would not have been so pretty if that tree had gone the other way. Woody

Had the same thing happen in my backyard 2 winters ago. A 100 foot tall fir fell just feet away from my house.........it hit NOTHING. It fell in the one spot that it could while avoiding all of the neighbors houses and cars as well. Truly amazing.

Do falling trees make a noise when there is no one around to hear them?

That is my big fear about beautiful old trees. I don't even think kindling would have been left if it hit your building.

Yes !!! The tree does not have the time to look around before it falls just to see if anyone is around that could hear;-))))

God loves Rockhounds. Their hearts are as big as the whole outdoors.
