Today I bought 4 small tubs of 80 grit for £5.00 per tub (500g per tub)- so I spent £20.00 (or roughly $43 US) on 2000 grams of grit.
I went over to a converter and get 1.1 pounds per tub - so in total it was 43$ for 4.4lbs of Grit.
I get the feeling that this is a totally expensive price compared to what you guys pay - am I right in this?
Mark.

50 Lbs $85.00 at 60/90. Good god. OK - for $86 in the UK I get 8.8lbs of grit. For $85 in America - i'd get 50lbs of grit. I'm paying about 6 times more for 80 grit over here. I guess thats why over here we are known as "rip off britain". Thanks Sands - theres the proof.

goes the other way for tea, tho, we pay $6 for a few ounces of Twinings, we discovered long ago that even with shipping, Brit tea was a deal. well, before they jacked the shipping prices anyway. you want me to check shipping prices for "slow boat" on 5 pounds (10, 15) for grit here, Mark? i usually buy my stuff at Kingsley North in 5 pound lots. www.kingsleynorth.com/skshop/search_results2.php?catID=142let me know, KD

Mark - Shouldn't take much effort to find out shipping costs to UK. Seems like there's enough members over there to warrant a hundred or two hundred pound bulk purchase.

Mark - Weight conversion is right but I come up with £20 = $35.55 (£1 = $1.78)
Still works out to over $8/lb (no VAT incl)

Mark, check with Shawn at the rockshed. Drop him an email and he'll figure the cost for you right down to the shipping, then you'd know. I buy 5 lbs for $12.50 usd, even with slow boat shipping that would have to be way better than yours.

Mark,
I'm having the same issues its a UK thing!!! Jack (Yorkshire) put me on to a place in Sheffield that is getting back to me with a price for a 25kg bag of 80 grit SiC used for grit blasting etc. I'll let you know how I get on if you fancy splitting a bag. The rub is that you have to take a whole 25kg bag.
Dave.

that comes out to about $10 Canadian a pound. That's the going price at hobby stores here (Those that don't specialize in Rock tumbling but do carry grit and the odd tumbler).

We have a place over here like Dave is talking about, It's called Miles Supply. Their price on grit is about a dollar a pound including shipping. The only thing is you have to order 50 pounds or more at a time. that comes out to about $10 Canadian a pound. That's the going price at hobby stores here (Those that don't specialize in Rock tumbling but do carry grit and the odd tumbler).

Hey mark, is there any way to pay for shipping to make it worth your while - slow boat prehaps. Maybe check into any stone supply places in the UK, maybe they can find you a better price.
