Hi all, I have heard/read that felt works real well for shining up cabs. Well, a buddy at work found a big roll of hard felt 3'x36'x1/8" cleaning out his departed Grandfathers garage. His Grandfather owned a machine shop some 30 years ago and used it wired to large discs to polish metal. He gave me a remnant so I could see if it works on rocks. Anybody out there think I could use feathering compound to attach a circle of it to a foam covered backing plate and use it on the Genie with Diamond paste? Thanks in advance for any input. Dave

Nope, it doesn't work. Leaves scratches. Back to the leather. ;D

It may depend on the felt. If soft felt, maybe. If the green stuff that looks like indoor/outdoor carpet (like used on vibrating laps), probably not. Of course, it may work better on agates/jaspers, etc. than on opals.

The felt I use is real soft and has a thin foam backing. Keith
