We are now requesting images of material from North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland for this thread. The images can be of rough, polished specimens, cabs, or tumbled stones. If you have any that you're willing to share, please post with a brief note on the region and its common name (if it has one.) Credit for the photo will be assigned to your name or online title (or not at all if that's your choice.)
Any material that fits under the heading agate/jasper is welcome to be posted here, even if it is from lesser known locations. Please post general locations along with the images.
There are many places that would be readily known to people outside the state. We'd love to see samples of these. If in doubt, POST!

I'll have quite a few coming in over the next week that I just ordered from a friend up north of me. They are all local items, especially the pet wood. Will post photos of the slabs soon as I get them! I'm getting an entire collection of local stuff for the Carolina's so would be happy t contribute.

Okay, looked and had some already taken for the stones that I've found myself. Here's a few... 1960's Petrified Wood, found near Cliffs of the Neusse State Park, Mount Olive, NC Butner Agate, found near Falls Lake, NC Creamy Quartz, found in my back yard, Mooresville, NC Rough Emeralds, mined just north of Hiddinite, NC Crystal filled Geode, found in my front yard, Mooresville, NC Red Moss Agate, uncovered just north of Lake James, NC Pink Quartz, found in my back yard, Mooresville, NC, on Lake Norman That's it for now. I've got some others but no photos, some obsidian, some more pet wood, then some gems that I dug up out of a couple of mines here in the state. All my stuff is from NC, don't have anything from SC yet. Hope these are okay.
