I have enjoyed looking at your pics. I didn't realize there was orbicular jasper out at the Hausers. I have to track some down next time I am out that way.

Nice project, there are few information data about the abundant jaspers and agates from west USA. You must to continue. I want to post a pictures from my collection for ask info to more expert peoples. I cut a lot of this, but I dont know the origin. I found this on the web, is it true? Lily Pad Fossil Algae from Seachlight NV/CA. thanks, marco Attachments:

This one I cut just one slab, but I found it can be from Brazil or Wood Lace Agate, Fresno, California. What is it? thanks, marco Attachments:

I have several large old stock pieces of the Camp Irwin chapinite that I need to slab. It's beautiful material that makes interesting cabs. Has Camp Irwin reopened to collecting on weekends ? Last I heard, it had been closed to non military people.

Marco: The Wood Lace Agate is from Brazil. Ron's Rocks from Camaraillo, CA used to sell quite a bit of it. Your first example is called oolite or pisolite depending on orb size ( pisolite " fish egg stone" if the orbs are larger). It comes from all over but I have seen examples from both California and Nevada. Some are hard and agatized while others are calcified. Last one should probably be San Simeon rather than San Simone. Very nice chapinite example!...Mel
