hi all i have some purpurite on the way. i was wondering if these would cab up or even tumble polish.any one have any experience with these rocks. any help would be appreciated. thanks George

Depends on whether it's crystalline or massive but the hardness is around 4 or maybe a bit harder. If it's massive it depends on whether it's mixed with something of the same hardness. My best guess would be it's probably better saved as a pretty specimen. Probably wouldn't tumble very well....mel

hi from the pics it looks to be massive. thanks i guess it will not hurt to try one edge on the pixie then would it. george

Up date on polished purpurite.As you said Mel it is soft.It has a a purple sheen on the out side before polishing on the pixie. After polishing it turns black and has a very high shine with little effort it was a very nice contrast to the purple sides.wish i knew how to do pics on here i would post some. Wife likes it.She wants to see one cut. Don't think this will be a good thing lol.I think they would be better left alone like you told me Mel. thanks george
