i found this really cool deer antler in my yard, would make a great handle or letter opener.....does anyone know how to clean/cure it? do you bleach it? urethane it? or just plain wash it and go?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just keep it as it is......................Your hands have natural oils in them,so the more you handle the antler the darker it will get. Also gets a shine to it.... Any pics of it???
PS: Just clean with soap and warm water, its good to go after that...

I always thought that it would be fun to make a primitive knive from antler. A flint knapped agate blade about 3" long or so notched and tied into some antler. This would make a fun "how to" article.
