Those are nice looking 'mater plants!
You growin' one type or several?
My wife would love to have more room for growing stuff, but we're lucky to have space for three plants and that's it. Love the summer though...BLT, LT, & T sandwiches all the time!
Great green thumb you got there!

BLTs are great... but with maters like those, it's gotta be a mater sandwich.... a little mayo, a little salt and balsamic vinegar and... yum, that went down easy. Do you get any of those alien looking caterpillars? Hope you sell enough to buy out Catman AND Mary Ann. ;D Jo

Jo, got to look for those rascals in the morning and evening to catch 'em when they are small, before they strip the plant. Ido not use any poison or sprays on my garden,so I got to smush 'em,kinda messy.I would have to plant about a 100 acres to buy Tony and Mary Ann out snuffy

Great looking crop, Snuffy - how do you manage to keep the birds from eating them before you can pick them?

Tom,thats a good question.I've never had a problem with birds pecking them. Ikeep a feeder out next to the garden and birds are around and in it all day long, mainly eating grasshoppers. Now those bas....ds are gonna be another story.

My Mamma says a "mater samish" is when the tomato is home grown and vine ripe, two slices of bread, plastered with mayo on both slices, and when you hold it up with both hands. . . . . It has to drip off each elbow ! ! ! Frank !!

Mary Ann, you got me thinking. I could put 20 lbs in a large flat rater, put in a couple large onions, coupla lbs of jalapenos, salt, pepper, and send it to you. After the post office got through kicking, dropping, throwing the box around, you would have salsa made when it got to you. ;D ;D

Beautiful plants! That would keep me canning forever! I haven't planted one thing this year. Still waiting to see what all we have in the yard before I get a good garden in. I did notice I have grapes and a peach tree though. At least I will have something... Fran

Man, those look good. I've been picking my lettuce for a couple days now but no tomatos yet. How about slicing one to really get our mouths watering.

Donna and I picked 14 gal. of cherries lat week. Tired of picking them. Maters are only about 18" high, but the potatoes are ready along with the lettuce and spinach. Cukes will be ready in a couple weeks. Corn is about 2 foot high. We use no fertilizer or chemicals on any of our plants. Ken

YUM! Looks like some tasty maters. Now I have to wipe the drool off the computer. Fried green tomatoes, tomato sandwiches, BLT, geez now I'm hungry for tomatoes but it's not tomato season around here yet, darn.

We have a small trade market down the road on weekends, sold some there. I give away most of them. About 3 more weeks and the heat, grasshoppers will do them in. It's time now to plant tomato seeds for the fall crop, but its hard to get out there in July and august to take care of them.
