I met the owner of the Willow Creek Jasper mine at Madras and spent a long time looking through his photo book of the mine and chatting. The Willow Creek Jasper forms as nodues - some as big as 10 foot across in ryolite. The ryolite is a grainy, softer version but heavy equipment is needed to work it.

Philip...the one he's standing on in your pic...if you had to guess...how much of that nodule would you say is gonna produce workable willow? I know...guess anyway!

No wonder that stuff costs a mint! I always think it looks like it caught the molton flow or bubbles in it to make the patterns in it and the colors must be the minerals in the area. All I can say is it is some beautiful stuff! Fran
