Yer I checked the Loretone site last night but all the parts they had appeared to be for the pulley and belt type, couldn't find anything like this at all. I was optimistic but alas the cupboard was bare ,, so to speak.
I feel like Indiana Jones on a quest for the grail, Must try harder it will happen ,, when? IDK.

Replace the plastic gears and go with metal pulley, metal fan with pulley, and o-ring. Look at the parts for the Lortone 1A or 3A and verify the shaft diameters. Part #001-105 -- for use on 1.5, 3A Tumblers only - 3A Motor Pulley $4 Part #001-101 -- for use with 3A Tumblers - 3A Drive Pulley $3 www.therockshed.com/partslortone.html

Hmmmmmm , now that looks viable IF there is enough room for the pulley's inside my box .
jerrys , you have started my square wheels a rolling .
I'm inept at anything mechanical heck Leggo posed a problem for me as a kid but I might dig a little deeper on this idea.
There I go digging a hole for myself again.
Thanks for the input and idea,, me likes....
I looked for the shaft dimensions on their site but nada , so I don't have anything to compare my drive shaft to , Dia wise.
Anyone got one they can measure for shaft ( big pulley ) dia and drive shaft ( little fan blade pulley ) dia.
Please,,

Gears and pulleys same size. No reason they won't fit, unless cover to tight and pulleys are thicker.....

So Lortone pulleys for shaft and motor will likely fit on my sears companion tumbler. If the diameter on both pulley and fan pulley are the same as the spindle diameters of my sears you can bet i'll make them fit in the box even if some of the box has to evaporate into thin air . Thanks shotgunner .

Here is a video of the 3A. Compare it to your Sears model. Replacing the parts is easy.

Jerrys , I was thinking about the lortone diameters not mine . The website doesn't give the dimensions for the center holes in the pulleys and I wouldn't know if my shafts would be too small / large to fit. One of my other pass times is bullet casting so I use calipers and mics quite a bit, I have Starretts and Mitutoyo's for that stuff. I fear , now you mention it I will be putting them into action on the project too. The instruments don't bother me it's the mechanical side of this project that does,,, ..
I'll watch the youtube vid after dinner , thank you for providing the link.. hoss.

Hello again here's a pic of my tumbler. It appears that Lortones motor is the other way around from mine so I'm not sure it's viable to convert this into a pulley deal, I don't know like I said I'm very inept at mechanical shenanigans,,. The fan gear is under the drive shaft gear but it's a bad pic so you can't see it, ( i'll show a pic of the fan gear or whats left of it ,,).

Morning , thanks for your speedy response, Could you explain how you got it to work and where you got the bushing or how you made the bushing ?. This is my first and only tumbler and my pocket book won't allow me to buy a new one anytime soon so for now I'm stuck with a " BOAT ANCHOR" and don't even own a boat, lol. I really need to fix this one until I can get another. Your help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks again salpal48, Have a great day. hoss. . There is No place to Get the Bushing. a Friend of Mine who is a machinist made it from a metal tube. and press fit it over the Motor shaft. . There always broken. I also converted one to Belt fed using new Lortone Parts . meaning a New Motor pulley from a model 3A and a Rod pulley from a Model 33B using a 3/16 O ring. After all the time effort and money It was not worth It.

Were they a "drop in " fit or did you have to play and tweak them to fit and also was there enough space back there for them ?. sorry for all the questions but this tumbler will work again if it kills me , it's gotten personal with me by god ( no offence meant). Thanks Salpal48 for the item #'s I appreciate it and please tell me " even a caveman can do it ",,

There are 2 working sears tumblers on ebay today.
It seems to me that for the amount of $$ you'll have to put into rebuilding your tumbler, you could probably find a good used Lortone or Thumlers for the same amount or a few dollars more. At least they still make parts for them.

jakesrocks , Yer I saw a couple and was considering going that route but as with all used things who's to say that they won't crap out on me after a couple of uses. The parts aren't that costly and for me knowing it's fixed I wouldn't have to worry about it. As with all hobbies eventually we upgrade our stuff to bigger and better things and I'm sure i'm no exception. but for now THIS IS WAR,,, and it ain't pretty.

I wish I can say a Caveman can do it But No. It is Really not worth the Time and effort. . The motor Pulley will fit easy . and The Belt pulley will fit easy. you will have to respace the motor to handle a small Belt. . That means Re drilling the case and moving the Motor..It sound simple. but very Time consuming. . Tools, Tools, and More Tools. Your best Bet sell it on ebay as Parts. some One will buy It and The rubber drum is Ok. Sal

Thanks sal, I got to looking at that aspect and kinda figured the motor would have to be moved , one way or another and there really isn't much room down there. I'm still thinking of doing it just for the heck of it,,, But I did buy a Thumlers tumbler to use and it's a work horse ,,, me likes,,, Thanks sal for all your help I appreciate it.. Hoss.

That's a generous offer. I hope you find a good home for it, especially with someone who needs a bump start on a fascinating hobby. Thanks for thinking of others.
