Snuffy, aren't they a little bit early? Seems to me like late September is kinda normal for Canadians, or is my memory getting too fuzzy again? What? Who said that? ;D TOM

Tom, we used to never see these here, except flying over in their v-formations. Over the last few years there have been some pairs that have stayed year round and hatched out little ones. But unusual this many together.I guess they got tired of flying a coupla thousand miles, plenty of food here.

Very neat! I'll have to check our lakes next time I got up to the front of the ranch. Only been seeing Black bellied whistling ducks and herons on the ponds near the house....Mel

I would say that they are local birds. Nothing is flying south yet up here. Couple more weeks and the Sky's will be full. More honkers are hanging around through the summers now. I feel it is due to less and less hunters. A lot of people have quit hunting due to the gun laws. And its all most taboo to let your kids use a firearm now. Gone are the days of getting a shotgun on your 12th birthday. Yes fossil they do cause a lot of damage. Just ask the green people that buy houses around man made lakes in the cities. I wander how they like having wild alarm clocks that go off at the crack of dawn. And turn there backyards into a crap fest.
