Hi Burnished them say a wash in Ivory /Borax /water for 24/ 48 hrs
I would have added a further stage of 1000 (in a vibe ) in a rotary a extra week in 600 would doo (the grit breakdown would take them past the above grade )
I burnish 24hrs in a vibe after 600, and get a awsome shine
They look pretty good to me as they are , You got some fab pieces in that batch,

Good morning,
If your rounded rocks are polishing but your slabs are not, I would consider the mix. This is especially true if the edges of the slabs are polishing and the centers are not. For me, it has been harder to get a good polish on slabs (all over) if I don't have a balanced load. I don't use pellets and haven't for years, so I don't know if they correct an "unbalanced load" issue.
I read somewhere that slabs shouldn't be more than 1/3rd of the load, and that is pretty much what I follow.
Since your rounded rocks are polishing, and your slabs are not, unless the slabs are all softer material (which doesn't appear the case) I doubt contamination is the issue. Your slabs are *beginning* to polish--I would just put them back in polish for another week or two. Some rocks/mixes just take longer to polish, and at least your slabs have begun the procedure.
A final caveat is that I don't use cerium on Mohs 7 rocks, and usually not even on softer ones unless I just can't get a polish with AO (Rockshed). This rarely happens, so I don't know if cerium has some special bugs I don't know about.
And yes, I think ceramics would help!
Susan

Gary,, First let me say you have a beautiful load there. That Amethyst is really special and love some of those banded Agates in the pictures. Now if some are not as shinny as others but somewhat I agree with Susan, put them back in polish for another period. I used to have the same problem but have now changed to AO and it's not so much. I know others use CO exclusively but I have better success with AO. Keep up the good work! Tanya

Nice looking batch you got there. Mine come up hazy if I don't have a good mixture of shapes and sizes. And I still have to put 'em through a second polish cycle about every other time.

Hi Jack, It almost looks like we split a big batch and took pictures. I really like seeing what others are doing in the same interests. Thanks Jack for showing me your pics Gary
