are in this specimen? lol just kidding. This will probably be my find of a lifetime. As far as can be measured into the creek it is a little over 15 feet and as much width as can be measured is 8 feet 8 inches, will have to tunnel underneath for a full diameter measurement. Also found some rounds- first ones I have found. We pulled a lot out and have tons of pics of some really beautiful pieces. One has crystals growing out of it. Enjoy. BeLinda This piece weighed 605# Hope you enjoyed -the large piece will not be able to be moved at this time. Bank is to unstable and no way to get heavy machinery to it. But on a happy note at least you got to see it in pictures. Down the creek about 50 yards it looks as though a petrified forest exploded and a return trip is planned. Thanks for looking. BeLInda

So, how long did it take you to recover from that trip? My back hurts just thinking about it! LOL!
I do think it was worth it though. It's beautiful!

I was ready to go back the next day, its not unusual for us to go and pick a ton at the time-smaller pieces of course. I would have already been back but a vacation got in the way lol. It only took 4 of us to load that into the back of the truck. But then again we are always prepared for the larger pieces-with exception of the tree. Now thats just to big.

I'd say that is a mighty fine find. Is that from Houston County? Just get a crane and a logging truck and git her done. ;D

Snuffy I would love to be able to pull this one out but as heavy as it is and the way the Bank it I do not the land owner would appreciate all the equipment it would take for the retrival. Bull dozer, crane and large truck lol.
Jo those rounds were cut with a concrete saw. It has a really strange pattern to it.
I think there will be more pieces of this one washing out of the bank it we ever get some rain. Lots of druzy on many pieces. Best we can figure is 3 different wood species so far.

BeLinda, that wood that you cut has a beautiful pattern. What a pleasure that must have been to find the whole trunk.
