Guy Fawkes? Isn't that Harry Potter's owl? How nice of them to dedicate a day to an owl. ;D

Thanks guys. Lol no pun intended.
Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the house of lords in 1605, the story is that him and 5 others being Catholics wanted a Catholic monarch and so planned to blow up the house of lords along with the then monarch King James the first. Thereby installing a Catholic monarch, He got caught was tried and hung drawn and quartered.
Since then kids all over the country have made guys to burn on the fire, although that part seems to have fallen by the wayside. Now it seems to be more about who can have the best firework display.

Guy Fawkes day is celebrated in a very similar manner as Americans do Halloween,,,,,,,,,,kids go door to door with an effigy of Guy, usually in a wee red wagon, begging for treats.
BTW, guy came very close to lighting the fuse to the barrels of gun powder that he and his henchmen had put in the basement of the House of Lords.
