Ive been working a beautiful cab with a beautiful vug and I am wondering about how to go about polishing it ... I notice sometimes when i push too hard the polish comes off on the cab and i need to wet and scrub real hard to get it off .... The last thing I want is that in my vug .... so is there any tips besides a light touch .... ?? pics soon !

I keep a bar of soap handy and pack that in. I think I read that tip on this board.

Hot water will melt out and remove the soap. I also use an electric toothbrush with one of those foaming peroxide toothpastes to remove polish from vugs or just the brush with straight hydrogen peroxide.....Mel

I've filled one with candle wax for lack of anything else to try. I dimpled it slightly with my finger while still a bit warm to press it below the outer layer of the cab so that it wouldn't come off curing polishing. Worked great, when I got done I warmed the stone in my toaster oven and it dripped right out...lol....

If you use the wax method, after you melt out as much as you can, soak the cab in denatured alcohol over night. It will dissolve any remaining wax. I'd sure like to make it to 49, (again).

I have heard both ways and have not tried either due to inpatients. I am working on one now that I really should pack with soap to finish working it. I am looking forward to seeing this one! Fran
