Liquid finish, Mel. That piece of palm in the first pic is amazing. The others are awesome too.

I got the woodward's at their ranch, of course. I wrote an article about that a couple of years back in Rock & Gem magazine about my experiance. Not sure if you clicked the link to the page with all the tumbles on it but I have a few good biscuits shown there. You guys hold the blitz at a time that just doesnt work for me because I usually drive to tucson and back in February , and that is a lot of time and a 4,000 mile road trip. Otherwise I would meet up with you guys out there...........

I dont think that is palmwood. The dots are really , really small compared to ordinary palmwood. I have read that it is "grapevine" and what I feel obligated to call it. It would sell better as palmwood but I think that might be incorrect. Here is a closer view of that piece:

This shot ( below ) shows the shine a bit better where the above photo I placed the emphasis on showing the tube structure: Both this piece and the true palmwood were found at the same site. I live near atlanta, Ga and so does a friend of mine. My friend got an odd job managing some land in tilden, texas ( even though he lives in Georgia! ). He calls me up and says , " Rodney, you are not gonna believe it , there is wood everywhere on this property. You could fill a truck up in a few hours here"! So naturally a couple of months later I drove 1100 miles one way to get me that truck load. The grapevine was all over the place and I collected 150 pounds of it in two hours. I found one single piece of palmwood and you are looking at that one piece in the photo near the top. I then rode to Laredo and Bob's Nob near Falcon Lake in Zapata, texas where that recent ski-doo killing was. I found two or three good agates and the best one is again in the top photos.

I've found that around my area too. It's cool looking, almost need a magnifying glass to see it well. I did quite a bit of research a while back and found some wood that it could possibly be but I cant remember what it was.
