i just got a call from a guy who use to make indian jewelry and wants to sell me some silver wire and some half round . i would like to get into wire wrapping and groove wrapping soon iam interested he said that he wants 30 an ounce that seams high but iam not sure can some of you wrappers help me on what to look for and how much its worth :help:

Also find out if it is full hard / half hard or dead soft. full hard is difficult to work with, half hard is the best and dead soft is for wrapping bundles together as it won't hold it's shape otherwise.
Alot of wire wrapping is done with square wire too. (Groove wrapping is with half round.)
Whose scale re you using to buy it with? ;D

I would find out if it's square wire. Using regular round wire in wraps is more difficult. For square, dead soft is the easiest to work with. You will probably use more square than half round, like a ratio of 1:3. Also, sometimes if the wire has been around for a while it will harden making it tougher. Silver is getting expensive these days too. Steve

Roy I assume You know and trust this person? How do You know if the silver is sterling, .925 ect or nickle silver (which contains no silver). Mike

i went and met this guy he was a silver smith that hadnt worked with anything since 72 the wire was more for making rings and stuff to big of gamble since i dont know the trade yet anyway he had a few ring blanks that i got and passed on the rest . thanks for all your help
