Hello, I should know this one, seen it many times. But..... alas, I have no clue, can't bring it back up in my mind. It's been sitting in a box and I would really like to finish it. Can someone please remind me what this is? I think I have to reshape and finish because of the crack on the face. It's really pretty though... :help: Thanks ~ Krystee

I have some Utah variscite that looks very similar... could be that as well.

I would say it is more likely to be Variscite. Chrysoprase is usually more translucent and it doesn't have the grey areas in it. Bob

Thanks tgood and Bob!
I googled pictures and I too think it is variscite now. That name rings a bell with me too. This piece is opaque and has a lot more grey on the back side.
Bob ~ double thanks because I also have a small slab that came in a box of mixed that looks very similar but has no grey and is somewhat translucent when held up to the light. Thought it was the same stuff until I held both pieces up to the light after reading your post.
Thanks!!!

That is definitely variscite, it comes from Lucin, Utah. We drove out to Lucin to dig for that stuff, didn't make it far in our rental car though, lol. I have a few more pieces of it if you would like more.

Duh... I feel silly. My brain was thinking variscite and for some reason my fingers typed chrysoprase. The matrix is a dead giveaway. Thanks for the correction.
