Nephrite was kind enough to send me a copy of a book about a bunch of jade fanatics and their exploits to bring up a 9,000 lb hunk of jade out of the ocean. It's a pretty good book describing, 1st hand, how these maniacs got this bad boy outta the sea and into the Oakland Museum. It keeps you pretty riveted because of all their trials and is worth the read. I thought the book would get more use running around the world than sitting on my bookshelf. Sign up below after reading the rules..... *1* You must agree to read it w/in a 3 week period. It's only 125 pages and it goes pretty quickly. *2* You must agree to send it along to the next reader at your expense. It can't be more -n- a buck or 2, but maybe more if/when it goes overseas. *3* You must include 1, and only 1, of your favorite polished rocks/cabs when you pass it along to the person on the list. We're not talking about a FLAT RATER, just a nice little something for the reader to enjoy while reading the book. *4* You must sign the inside cover w/ your RTH handle/name, date, and your relative location. *5* I reserve the right to send it out to 1 of the members (STEVE HOLMES....at Neph's request) first before it begins it's journey. This should be fun and it'll give you all some insight into what Tony and his fellow jade seekers go thru when diving for the "glorious green." Please sign up below and we'll get this thing cooking. If STEVEHOLMES doesn't want to participate, then I'll send it off to the first person in line. Gaetz Here is a copy of the book cover and some little jade nuggets Neph is offering up.
Included are......DVD's of the big jade......some jade nuggets.....the book

Great idea. Maybe we could get a traveling lapidary / rock library going.

Not to make the package too heavy I will add these ocean polished jade nuggets. Whoever reads it can take 1 or two pieces. when it gets low I will send out more, these should last awhile. Tim, let me know if you want to add these and I will mail it to the current reader , just send me the address.

Neph-
I like the idea a lot. I'm sure no one will complain about a smooth piece of Big Sur.

***************** UPDATE ***************
I sent the book on to Stoner in San Jose. Hopefully he'll have enough time to read it between making cabs. Tony has offered the cool jade nuggets and will get them to Stoner this week so he can pass them along to the next person in line....STEVEHOLMES.
Stoner, let me know when you're getting close to finishing and I'll get a hold of Steve to see if he's still interested. If not, we'll send it off to George in Ohio.
