Howdy folks, was out hiking yesterday and found my first Montell point here on the ranch. It was broken, as almost all are because of all the horses and cattle tromping all over everything, but I'm always happy any time i find enough of the point for an identification and probable date and period of origin. Montells were dart points used here in Texas during the late archaic period approx 1500-3500 years ago, much younger than most the points I find here which are usually in the 3500-8000 year old range and from the Bulverde or Pedernales cultures. For those of you who knap, man this guy was good, despite it's size, this point is very very thin...Mel
