After putting down a surfeit in Benjies down on a hard won point and shoot Pentax Optio WG-1 12th generation rugged camera, I decided I'd put it's Digital Microscope Mode to good use and take some Agate'y Still Life. Two weeks later after staring at rock microcosm's so long that I felt like I was part of the Agate Landscapes; and after a near banjaxed eye from a corneal scratch by a damned Honeysuckle bush out Agate Hunting - I'm popping in to share my images! Most of the Agates provided were found in the nonce (near to now) and I can say outright that Agateering in 2011 has been a serious killing-streak for me so to speak; it just seems that each one after the other seems to king the other... but I can't complain! The place with grand ol' specimens that I find here In Ohio I'll soon be leaving, since I am about to make a verklempt (overcome with emotion) move to the The Hudson Valley area of Newyork State: New Paltz to be exact.
I've got until August 2011 until my time in Greene Co. OH peters out like Cardice; and that old abandoned rail-yard along the Mad River in Riverside, OH is a bit of a Prospectors Tearjerker to have to leave. But before I leave, and more or less (depending on money in large to get back here) and am outie possibly for good, I might be able to place my Top shelf Ohioan Agates on exhibit It rests upon a person-I-knows husband's shoulders; who may be able to pull a few strings since she as his wife put in a good word for me. I hope this takes off like The Rocketeer and I'm able to share these with Ohioan prospectors for the time being, while I'll still be here in state! I already have my eyes set upon (after much Agate sleuthing) New Jersey Trap-rock Agates and Nova Scotia Agates nearby & I'll definitely go the distance to get them - so no worries there
For those Ohioan's that frequent ANDY 321 by the way (since I know there are some that do and are a bit down on Ohio's mineral options) this thread will make you more than a bit happier... because OH "is capable" of producing some pretty show stealing Agates as well.
Here they are below: (And be sure to visit their sets for content on my newly cobbled together Flickr profile, here: www.flickr.com/photos/the_ibexian/sets/ )
