They are not as finished as I thought. It was also getting dark and flash reflects. But here they are. I will put together some more Lake Austin rocks. They sound like metal when you drop them or kick them. Attachments:

Wow, you have some awesome rocks at Lake Austin. Wish the postage to the US wasn't so high, I'd have you send some. Those really are beautiful.

Me, too!
The last ones may be too big to tumble, but might make some interesting cabs.

Here are some more from Lake Austin. I want some more equipment to finish them better than that but I will have to go to Geraldton to get the stuff, 520km one way. Maybe next week or the week after. I am glad they are liked. I hopefully I will have some more finished from some where else by the end of this weekend. Some quartz from Meekatharra. Attachments:

It was going to this place that really gave me the incentive to buy my tumbler. I had already decided to but this was what made it happen.

I can sure cope with more! And I would love to know more about them. Do you have any idea what they are? How hard they are? How they were formed?

I know they are hard they won't scratch with metal. They chip in flakes. They were formed out of sediment but that is all I know. All I can guess is that they must have been under some huge pressure at some time, probably a very long time ago.
Lake Austin is huge and what I have seen is just the bit near the road, further on it changes to quartz, there are even outcrops of granite which is very aged.
I have been told that the geology of this area is mind bogglingly old.

Wow Emere, that is one beautiful rock. It is similar to our Flint Ridge Flint. It is also very hard but yours is really special and those tumbles are wonderful.
