Hi everyone, :help: I am in need of help to restore my beloved VERACRUZE AMETHYST CRYSTALS ON MATRIX. Unfortunately our beloved Veracruze fell victim to the dreaded Friday the 13th. That is when he arrived.....BROKEN . I guess the effects of poor packing coupled with being delivered on Friday the 13th was just to much for the little guy to take. When we opened his box all he could do was just just lay there his beautiful terminated point severed at the matrix . This is how he looked when he left Mexico: The beautiful large terminated point on the top is now severed. It is a clean break and is probably a simple repair but I just want to make sure that I repair it correctly. I don't want to cut any corners just to save a few $ on material to facilitate the repair. I have seen all of the great things some of you have fabricated and I am asking for your help in recommending to me the proper technique and materials to use. Thanks, Stu

That's a beautiful specimen. Someone will tell you the best way to repair it. If it were me, I'd use a crystal clear epoxy.

I'm not a great crystal expert, but if that pic is the original condition of the cluster, not a pic of the cluster after it broke. I doubt the large point was attached. The bottom of that point looks like it originally was set deeper in a cluster. I'd just put a couple spots of super glue of it and set it where you want it.

Thanks for the info so far. There must be some more recommendations out there from all of you fixer upers out there. Maybe I can move rhis along a bit.
1) what kind of glue do I use to make the repair? A) epoxy B) crazy glue C) what consistancy should the glue be in. Thick or thin or putty?
2) do I need to do any kind of surface prep work on the broken crystal/matrix before glueing?
3) Do I need to splint the (for lack of a better terminology) broken point in any way?
Thanks again for any recommendations

the only recommendation i would suggest is that there is another forum that i belong to as well that is called dirty rockhounds .. most of these members over there a more geared towards crystals and minerals ... it might take a little longer for some answers but you will probably get some real good information over there ... sometimes i will do the same exact post here and there ! Also did the seller offer some type of discount atleast ?

Hi Greg, I must say the seller Took half off and free shipping so I have no complaints. They are very ethical indeed. It does not seem to be a big deal to fix. I am just getting a little anal about it I guess. The sell was Open -Adit they are in Arizona. Highly recommend them. despite the damage on arrival. Stu
