Here is a picture of a chunk of carnelian I polished the face of today. It isn't the greatest specimen ever, but it was a rock I found on the river this weekend, and it is also the first rock I have polished on my newly acquired cabbing machine. After this, I am already ready to upgrade the carbide wheel to a diamond wheel! I really need to invest in a light box!

Congratulations on your first polish. Look like you got a good shine on that rock. Even better that it is a rock you found in your area.

Wow what a shine. What kind of machine did you polish it on?
FYI . Carnelian has many good metaphysical properties. It helps to dispel mental lethargy and sharpens concentration. It is a high energy stone that helps restore vitality, motivation and creativity. in ancient times it was used to protect the dead in their journey to the afterlife. It helps remove extraneous thought when meditating and tunes daydreaming into every day reality

Feels good working a self collected piece, doesn't it?! Nice polish too, it looks great!

It sounds like I need to keep the rock at my desk at work! Those are all characteristics I could use a little help with! Thanks for the info! Dan

That carnelian looks pretty big in the picture. How large is it? The polish turned out great! Fran

That carnelian looks pretty big in the picture. How large is it? The polish turned out great! Fran It is probably about 2" x 2", but not square. I think the photo makes it look a lot bigger than it is.
